The authors report an analysis of brain donations in the Royal College of Surgeons' brain bank. They found a social class bias in the provision of brains, with more donations from the lower social classes than from the higher social classes. This bias was especially marked in the donation of females. These findings may explain the finding of lower mortality rates in donors with lower social class in the West.
